On August 12, 2024, a delegation of Young Peace Advocates from Peace Ambassadors Centre For Humanitarian Aid and Empowerment (PACHE) visited the Borno State Ministry of Information and Internal Security. Led by Ambassador Ahmed Shehu, the team presented their scorecard for review and guidance, highlighting their impact in peacebuilding, conflict resolution, mental health, and climate mitigation.
As trained and inducted advocates, these young individuals have been actively engaging in humanitarian support and complementing the state government's efforts. During the visit, they shared their community activities, successes, and challenges, demonstrating their dedication to creating positive change.
The Young Peace Advocates have been involved in various initiatives, including participation in the Borno State Climate Action plan and World Climate Day 2024, tree-planting campaigns, and engagement with low-risk repentant insurgents. These efforts showcase their commitment to sustainable peace.
Commissioner Professor Usman Tar commended their efforts and approved a partnership, including a radio slot, to further amplify their impact. He acknowledged the significance of empowering young people in peacebuilding and encouraged them to continue their vital work.
The visit concluded on a positive note, with a sense of hope and collaboration, as the Young Peace Advocates continue to pave the way for a more peaceful and sustainable future.
