GOV ZULUM LAUNCHED THE DISTRIBUTION OF SEN MT MONGUNO'S 110 COMMERCIAL VEHICLES Sunday



~ Senator MT Monguno's projects are visible and commendable, Zullum said 

~ The distribution is within Six-month projects of the senator  

~ The main goal is to revive the economy of Northern Borno

In line with Borno State's development plan and 10 Year Strategic Transformation initiatives Governor Babagana Umar Zulum has today launched the distribution of 110 commercial vehicles Procured by Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno Senator Representing Nothern Borno as empowerment to boost economic activities of the region.
"The Need for an Effective Transportation System for the Movement of Goods and services can not be overemphasized hence the provision of 110 Pickups by Senator MT Monguno is commendable"
The distribution of the one hundred-one commercial pick-ups is one among the numerous constituency projects of the Senator within just six months in office. 

The Projects tally with the current recovery efforts of the Governor and is in line with the state Development Agenda.

Before now, Senator MT Monguno has disbursed empowerment funds worth five hundred million to his constituency, built a 128-capacity student hostel at the Federal Polytechnic Monguno, and facilitated the employment of 18 Constituents into Federal Parastatals

The vehicles will be distributed to deserving ones across all the local government areas of the senatorial zone.

National Deputy Party Chairman Ali Bukar Dalori, State Party Chairman Bello Ayuba, Speaker Borno State House Assembly Rt Hon Abdulkareem Lawan, SSG, Head of Service Members of the Borno State House of Assembly, Commissioners Local Party Chairmen all attended the Program.

BORNO STATE INTERNAL REVENUE RISES TO TWO BILLION IN 40 DAYS AS PROF BELLO LEADS DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION

in his maiden press briefing yesterday,  the Executive Chairman of the Borno State Internal Revenue Service Professor Ibrahim Bello Alhaji disclosed that since he assumed office now seven months the revenue generation of the state has been increasing steadily due to the ongoing reforms he and members of staff are implementing.

"I came here seven months ago and honestly I found the service in good condition in terms of infrastructure and staffing this enabled me to hit the ground running from day one I came up with the digital revenue system which after FIRS no other state is implementing it as perfect as  Borno, that has made the revenue generation to increase steadily"

The Chairman also made a slide presentation highlighting the steady increase in the revenue which he said is largely due to the ongoing reforms.

"We have automated the collection of revenues by assessing and profiling all  business premises, after which BOIRS issue taxpayers with assessment and demand notice that is embodied with  appropriate taxes that the taxpayer will pay, he or she can pay by logging into the service website, using phone or visiting nearby accredited POS agents and Commercials Banks"

Highlighting the advantages of the digitizations the Chairman said it has eliminated physical visits of the BOIRS staff to taxpayers to collect taxes and it is simple quick and easy to be certified and has enabled us to generate more revenue for the state.

"This has blocked linkages that we were able to remit to the state government the sum of 2,850,159,929.98 from January  to February 15th, 2024, this figure will by God's Grace increase as we continue to  implement the Reform"

Prof. Bello thanked Gov Zullum for signing Executive Order 5 which enabled the service to put in place Grievense redress mechanisms which has greatly contributed to the rise.

He equally thanked members of staff for the necessary support they are giving him to implement the reforms.

Borno State Ministry of Budget and Planning in collaboration with the Borno State Delivery Support Unit, Agency For Coordination and Sustainable Development, Partnership and Humanitarian Response Yesterday Monday 19th February 2024 unveiled a five-day capacity building to top State Civil Servants on Public Policy and Governance.

The Capacity Building is being held at the International Conference Center of Musa Usman Secretariat under the facilitation of Lagos Business School.

In his welcome address, the Honourable Commissioner for Budget and Planning Dr. Mustapha Malumbe disclosed that Capacity building is tailored to the specific needs, in particular, to ease the implementation of the Borno State 25-year Development Plan and equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate these complexities in Good Governance and designed by experts from Lagos Business School a Pan-Atlantic University, Founded in 1986. Lagos Business School has established itself as a leading business school in Africa, renowned for its rigorous academics, impactful research, and strong alumni network.

He also said the participants will be trained in three areas Re-evaluating the vision, mission, and core value statement of Borno State: Borno State's 25-year Development plan essentials of strategy, Making Strategy work in a Disruptive Environment, and The challenges of changing a Government.

The State Head of Service Barrister Fannami in special remarks said the training is one among the ongoing public service reforms embarked upon by Governor Babagana umara Zulum already he said the Governor has introduced Promotional exams to ensure Civil Servants are placed and appointments to certain positions in merit. Hence thanked the organizers for coming up with the training.

Mario Mandara the Chief Adviser to the Governor and State Coordinator for Sustainable Development and Partnership and Humanitarian Support while giving her goodwill message pointed out that the Governor in his letter stated that the 25-year development plan is owned by the people of the state and has called for individuals and collective efforts towards achieving she is optimistic therefore the capacity building will prepare stakeholders in the public sector in implementing the plan. She also advocated for Attitudinal Change and Social Reoriebtaions among Public Servants and stakeholders.
Dr. Matthew Ayibakuro Governance adviser and technical lead for the Borno Delivery Support Unit Foreign Commonwealth Development office spoke virtually and said the capacity building is supporting Borno to succeed in its recovery projects, especially in service delivery hence assured the continued support of the Unit. He wishes all participants a successful training.

In another goodwill message delivered by the Director of Education Lagos Business School Mr Victor Attah thanked the Borno state Government and their partners for collaborating with the school in implementing the capacity building.LBS is the only business school in West, East, and Central Africa to hold two of the three most prestigious global accreditations the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the Association of MBAs (AMBA) held by less than 5% of top business schools Mr. Attah said they will put their best ensuring the training a successful.

Frank Nweke, Jr, a former minister, former Director General of NESG and currently a Senior Visiting Fellow at LBS, Professor Silk Ogbu (academic director of the LBS Public Sector Leadership Initiative, Professor Perekunah Eregha, (co-coordinator of Nigeria Agenda 2050) and Umar Idris, our public sector initiative business development manager are on ground to facilitate the workshop which will based on knowledge exchange, skill enhancement, and collaborative learning The Director added.

Declaring the Capacity building training opened the Secretary to State Government Dr Bukar Tijjani said the training has come at in better time, it serves as an induction to six newly appointed permanent Secretaries. He also set targets for participants for certificates will only be issued if they made up the targets hence urging them to put more effort and put into use what they will learn.
Alhaji Sadiq a newly appointed Permanent Secretary gave a vote of thanks on behalf of the Participants and assured the SSG of their full participation in meeting targets and expectations.
