HEALTH CARE FINANCING WEEK 2024: STAKEHOLDERS COMMEND GOV ZULUM FOR ALLOCATING 15% OF THE 2024 BUDGET TO HEALTH

- The Week includes a Press briefing, Live radio Program, Town Hall Meeting, Road Walk, and football tournament 

- Theme- Achieving universal health coverage through Improved Healthcare Financing.

-Sub-theme- Innovative Ways for Strengthening Healthcare Financing for post-Conflict recovery.


As part of activities making this year's healthcare care financing week 2024, the Borno State Contributory Health Care Management Agency BOSCHMA is organizing week-long events to mark the week.

Monday 15th January 2024 (Press Briefing)

The Executive Secretary of the Agency Dr Saleh Abba Kaza briefed pressmen at the conference hall of the agency during which he highlighted key achievements of the agency which include 
Accessing basic healthcare provision funds from the 1% consolidated revenue funds to support the healthcare of the poor and vulnerable groups, Accreditation of 183 primary healthcare facilities, Accreditation of all secondary facilities in the state to serve as referral centers to PHC, Enrollment of 115,628 beneficiaries, Disbursement of 551,041,026 grant to PHC and Secondary Health facilities and Development of 10-year Strategic Plan.

Moving forward Dr Kaza said the agency expects to access more funds to increase enrollment and establish Zonal offices at Monguno and Biu for Northern and Southern zones. 

The Executive Secretary concluded the briefing by appreciating Gov Babagana Umara Zulum for supporting the agency, He equally thanked the Hon Commissioner of Health, Management the entire staff of BOSCHMA, and the entire stakeholders including development partners for their continued support of the Agency.

Tuesday 16th January 2024 (Town Hall Meeting)

The second in the series of activities made the week in a town hall meeting featuring a keynote address and panel discussion.

Declaring the town hall meetings opened the Head of Borno State Civil Service Barrister Fannami appreciated Dr Kaza for putting in such a program that brought a wide range of stakeholders to deliberate on how to improve healthcare financing and said the theme of the town hall is very apt.
He also pledged to seek the Governor's approval for the commencement of the deduction of the state civil servants for their proper enrollment into the scheme.

On his part, the Honourable Commissioner of Health Professor Malam Gana called on wealthy individuals and politicians to participate by enrolling vulnerable people in the scheme  

In their separate remarks, stakeholders commended Gov Zullum for allocating 15% of the 2024 budget to health sectors that superseded the Abuja Declaration.
Other activities to be carried out are Road walks for awareness and football matches.
