PEACE BUILDING- BOSG, PEACE AMBASSADORS CENTER CONDUCTS TOWN HALL MEETING IN THE GAMBORU COMMUNITY


With support from the British Council Nigeria the Borno State Ministry of Information and Internal Security in Collaboration with the Peace Ambassadors Centre for Humanitarian Aid and Empowerment - PACHE and the Gamboru Youth Association on Sunday, January 28th, 2024 Conducted a town hall meeting on Borno Model of reintegration in Gamboru Community.

The meeting was conducted under the PACHE  peacebuilding project Youth Initiative For Reintegration and Sustainable Peace Supported by the British Council.

Participants of the hall meetings include Youths, traditional and religious leaders, women groups, and members of the voluntary policing sector 

Speakers at the meeting enlighten the community members about the Borno model of reintegration and as well their inputs and concerns on how best to sustain the initiative. Was received.

The Honourable Commissioner of Information and Internal Security Prof Usman Tar while declaring the meeting open prof Tar said the town hall meeting is part of the state government's ongoing social orientation program and this particular one is the third in the series that the government is organizing in partnership with PACHE, hence he called on the community members to constructively make comments and suggestions for the overall peace of Borno.
 Dr. Mairo Mandara the chief Adviser and Coordinator of sustainable development and humanitarian support to Borno State Governor her remarks dwelt extensively on forgiveness and the promotion of good deeds as strong pillars of peaceful coexistence she called on the Community members to exhibit and to be tolerant of each other.
Amb Ahmed Shehu the  President and Founder of the Center earlier in his remarks drew the attention of the community members to work together to ensure peace in their communities government alone can't do it he said. 

Goodwill messages were also taken from the Executive Secretary Agency for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and Sustainable Development, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Alhaji Mohammed Hamza, and the representative of Peace Ambassador Hajiya Halima Mustapha Sam.

Discussion at the town Hall meeting was triggered by Dr. Hayyatudeen Mohammed Adam Ph.D.  presentation on setting the Scenario for Better Borno and a Drama presentation by the Gamboru Youth Development Association 
Action Points and Suggestions made during the commentary sessions were recorded and the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Information and Internal Security Mohammed Alhaji Mohammed pledged  to take further Consideration

DAY 3

 

Build-a-Thon Innovative and digital training is seamless as builders (Students) advance in developing their projects.

Engr Abdullahi Abdulkarim Galtimari CEO of Digimatics and the chief facilitator of the training in Maiduguri today went around and inspected the students' progress. Impressed by the performance of the students Engr Galtimari said the student's projects reflect the purpose of the training.
By Tomorrow the Builders might have finished building their various projects reflecting research, prototyping, and problem-solving solving which they will demonstrate publicly.
Commenting on her experience with builders in Maiduguri the Master Trainer Mrs Camfort  Egbe said the builders are Cooperating with their educators and have shown a high sense of creativity in building their projects. She said by tomorrow they might have finished and already judges have been put in place to evaluate them based on certain criteria.

Emmanuel Nyem the team lead from the Federal Ministry of Communications Innovation and Digital Economy said the experience in Maiduguri is unique due to the support they received from the Borno State Government through the Honourable Commissioner of Education Science Technology and Innovation Engr Abba Lawan Wakilbe and his entire team. 

He also talks about sustaining the projects which is providing the builders with tool kits that they will go home to work with.

DAY 2 Build-a-Thon innovation and digital training are ongoing in Maiduguri


It is a collaboration event between the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, Nigeria, Borno State Ministry of Education Science Technology and Innovation, and the Raspberry Pi Foundation Supported By the Nigerian Communication Commission 

Facilitated by Digimatics ICT Company 
500 students from 15 schools across Maiduguri are undergoing mentoring on user research, prototyping, and problem-solving exercises for four days.

500 BORNO SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS GET TRAINING IN INNOVATION AND DIGITAL SKILLS

-Borno State Ministry of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation Collaborates with the Federal Government in  Buid-A-Thon innovation to 500 students in Borno State.

-As Engr  Abba Lawan Wakilbe Declared the Event opened Build-a-Thon training to 500 Secondary School Student  
Today Monday 22nd January 2024 at the Mohammed Wakil High Islam conference hall the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, Nigeria, Borno State Ministry of Education, Science Technology and Innovation in Partnership with Raspberry Pi Foundation Launched a four-day Build-a-thon innovation and Digital training in Maiduguri.

Build-a-thon will introduce senior Secondary School students to embedded systems and maker culture. During the four-day event, 500 students will be under the guidance of 75 teachers who will mentor them on user research, prototyping, and problem-solving exercises. 

Declaring the event opened the Commissioner of Education Science Technology and Innovation Engr Abba Lawan Wakilbe said the training is in line with the policy trust of Governor Zulum-led administration of the Development of Innovative Digital Skills for job creation which his ministry is persuading with vigour.

The Commissioner said already the state government has done a lot in the sector which includes the establishment of ICT centers for primary and secondary schools across the state and training and retaining of teachers of digital learning among others.

He added this particular training will contribute attainment of Borno state's 25-year development plan and 10-year agenda and will enhance the students' digital skills hence calling on them to pay attention to every bit of the training.

Eng Wakilbe used the medium to thank the Honourable Minister of Communication Innovation and Digital Economy Dr 'Bosun Tijani  for  finding Borno worthy of the program 

In their separate remarks, the representative of the Ministry of Communication and the Chief host, Master trainer, and the team lead  Mrs. Maryam Lawan,  Comfort Egbe, and Emmanuel Nyam respectively highlighted the benefits of the event which include building the skills of innovation and exploration, creativity, and self-expression among others.
Digimatics is an ICT  company based In Maiduguri  under it's CEO Baba Audu facilitated the conduct of the program in the state and is among the instructors of the event pledged to ensure the smooth conduct of the event  
Also in attendance at the opening ceremony are the Permanent Secretary,  Directors of the Ministry of Education Science Technology Innovation, and the staff of the Federal Ministry.

HEALTH FINANCING WEEK - DAY 4 BOSCHMA ON ROAD WALK FOR AWARENESSFriday 19th January 2024



As part of activities making the 2024 Health Financing Week organized by Borno State Contributory HealthCare Management Agency today, the Executive Secretary Dr. Abba Saleh Kaza led members of the management team staff, and media to a road walk show.
The road walk begins at exactly 9 am kicked off at the Agency's head office at Lagos Street through Gidan Madara - Monday Market- post office area- state secretariat to Ahmadu Bello way back to the Agency's headquarters at exactly 11 am 
Filing questions from journalists the Executive Secretary said the purpose of the road walk was to create awareness among the members of the public on the functions of the Agency to encourage them to voluntarily enroll. Dr Abba also said the road walk will also prepare the physical fitness of his staff to get ready for the year 2024. 

Highlights of the road walk were the dispatching of leaflets to the public containing key equations and answers about the agency.
A football competition and award dinner will be later in the day round up the week-long activities.

HEALTH CARE FINANCING WEEK 2024: STAKEHOLDERS COMMEND GOV ZULUM FOR ALLOCATING 15% OF THE 2024 BUDGET TO HEALTH

- The Week includes a Press briefing, Live radio Program, Town Hall Meeting, Road Walk, and football tournament 

- Theme- Achieving universal health coverage through Improved Healthcare Financing.

-Sub-theme- Innovative Ways for Strengthening Healthcare Financing for post-Conflict recovery.


As part of activities making this year's healthcare care financing week 2024, the Borno State Contributory Health Care Management Agency BOSCHMA is organizing week-long events to mark the week.

Monday 15th January 2024 (Press Briefing)

The Executive Secretary of the Agency Dr Saleh Abba Kaza briefed pressmen at the conference hall of the agency during which he highlighted key achievements of the agency which include 
Accessing basic healthcare provision funds from the 1% consolidated revenue funds to support the healthcare of the poor and vulnerable groups, Accreditation of 183 primary healthcare facilities, Accreditation of all secondary facilities in the state to serve as referral centers to PHC, Enrollment of 115,628 beneficiaries, Disbursement of 551,041,026 grant to PHC and Secondary Health facilities and Development of 10-year Strategic Plan.

Moving forward Dr Kaza said the agency expects to access more funds to increase enrollment and establish Zonal offices at Monguno and Biu for Northern and Southern zones. 

The Executive Secretary concluded the briefing by appreciating Gov Babagana Umara Zulum for supporting the agency, He equally thanked the Hon Commissioner of Health, Management the entire staff of BOSCHMA, and the entire stakeholders including development partners for their continued support of the Agency.

Tuesday 16th January 2024 (Town Hall Meeting)

The second in the series of activities made the week in a town hall meeting featuring a keynote address and panel discussion.

Declaring the town hall meetings opened the Head of Borno State Civil Service Barrister Fannami appreciated Dr Kaza for putting in such a program that brought a wide range of stakeholders to deliberate on how to improve healthcare financing and said the theme of the town hall is very apt.
He also pledged to seek the Governor's approval for the commencement of the deduction of the state civil servants for their proper enrollment into the scheme.

On his part, the Honourable Commissioner of Health Professor Malam Gana called on wealthy individuals and politicians to participate by enrolling vulnerable people in the scheme  

In their separate remarks, stakeholders commended Gov Zullum for allocating 15% of the 2024 budget to health sectors that superseded the Abuja Declaration.
Other activities to be carried out are Road walks for awareness and football matches.
